Why Convexio's browser tools are so data-secure
Local processing in your browser instead of uploads to the cloud. What is behind it technically and why many of these tools are free.

Online tools are convenient. Editing PDFs, generating QR codes, converting files, inspecting documents, analysing invoices: all of that is just a few clicks away in any browser.
But for sensitive files, many users only ask the most important question much too late:
What actually happens to my data the moment I upload it?
That is where the real risk lies with many classic online tools.
The convenient click can become a privacy problem
The internet is full of free tools that help quickly and without hassle. What often stays invisible: the actual processing usually does not happen on your own computer. It happens on someone else’s servers. At that moment sensitive data has already left your own security perimeter.
Especially with important documents, personal data or confidential content, the question to ask is always:
Does this file really need to be uploaded somewhere?
If you are not paying for the product, you are often the product
A well-known quote from the tech world:
If you are not paying for the product, you are the product.
Not every free online service is shady. But for many tools it remains entirely opaque where data is processed, how long it is stored or which systems in the background have access to its contents. With sensitive documents, that opacity is an unnecessary risk.
Because privacy does not start in the privacy policy. Privacy starts in the technical architecture.
The technical difference at Convexio
Many Convexio tools deliberately follow a different technical approach than classic online services. For many of our browser applications the required technical components are loaded once, directly into your browser. The actual processing then happens locally, on your own computer.
In other words: your data is not processed somewhere on the internet. Your browser does the work, right where you are.
A simple indicator of this is that many of these tools can be used even after you go offline. You could literally switch on airplane mode and keep working.
That is a clear sign that the actual processing in these applications happens locally in your browser, and that sensitive content does not leave your computer.
This technical approach reduces unnecessary uploads of sensitive data to external systems in many use cases, and supports privacy-friendly, GDPR-compliant processing with more control and transparency for the user.
Why Convexio offers many of these tools for free
A question we hear often:
If these tools are so capable, why are they free?
The answer is simple. At Convexio we work every day on data-secure browser applications, AI solutions and GDPR-compliant software for demanding use cases. Thanks to that technical depth and our experience we can build and ship many such tools efficiently.
At the same time these applications mean more to us than individual web tools. They show what is possible today when modern software engineering, privacy and local browser-side processing are combined sensibly.
That is why we offer many of these tools deliberately for free. We want to show that capable digital tools do not automatically mean uploading sensitive data to foreign systems. And we want to make visible that modern software and a sensible use of AI need not be expensive, complicated or reserved for large enterprises. With the right technical architecture, data-secure and GDPR-compliant solutions are often far more pragmatic than many assume at first.
From free tools to bespoke solutions
Free browser tools, of course, primarily solve general and frequent use cases. In organisations, law firms or specialised processes, however, very specific requirements often emerge that cannot be fully met with off-the-shelf tools alone.
That is where the actual work of Convexio begins.
When processes get more complex, or specific problems need to be solved, we look together at whether and how modern software or AI can help in a meaningful way. We then build bespoke solutions that are not only functional, but also fit the requirements for privacy, data security and GDPR-compliant processing.
Because often a small free tool only shows a glimpse of what is technically possible at larger scale.
